On the night of March 16th 2024, at 01h54 UT, a big and bright fireball was observed on the mid part of Portugal.
This event was registered with the SMART Project’s detectors operated at Calar Alto (Almería), Sierra Nevada (Granada), La Sagra (Granada), Huelva, La Hita (Toledo) and Seville observatories.
Also two of the external cameras of Calar Alto Observatory in Almería, could record this nice object.
March 04th 2024
At 01:00 UTC on February 11, 2024, a bright fireball could be seen near the sky of the Balearic Islands, of which we have finally achieved its triangulation.
This object was recorded in the SMART Project detectors operated in Calar Alto (Almería), Huelva, La Hita (Toledo), Sierra Nevada, La Sagra (Granada) and Seville.
February 1st 2024
Last January 30th 2024, at 22h17 UT, a bright fireball could be seen flying above southest Spain, crossing the southern part of Granada and Almería provinces, near the coast, in a long run.
This event was registered with the SMART Project’s detectors operated at Calar Alto (Almería), Huelva, La Hita (Toledo), Sierra Nevada (Granada), La Sagra (Granada) and Seville observatories.
The object was very high above the horizon, and only one of the external cameras operated at Calar Alto Observatory in Almería, recorded this nice fireball.
January 21th 2024
At 20:03 UT on the night of January 21, a spectacular comet-originated fireball lit up the skies over Huelva, gracefully heading towards the southern coasts.
This phenomenon was meticulously captured by the detectors of the SMART Project, deployed in strategic observatories such as Calar Alto (Almería), La Hita (Toledo), Huelva, Sierra Nevada, La Sagra (Granada), Sevilla, and Aljarafe (Seville).
November 24th 2023
Last weekend Calar Alto external cameras registered the impressive images of the France test missile.
This event was recorded with two of the external cameras operated at Calar Alto Observatory in Almería (South Spain)
