Last night of May 18th 2024, at 22h46 UT, a really big fireball crossed skies of Spain and Portugal.
This object was registered with the SMART Project’s detectors operated at Calar Alto (Almería), La Hita (Toledo), Huelva, Sierra Nevada (Granada), La Sagra (Granada), Sevilla and Marçà (Tarragona) observatories.
Two of the external cameras located at Calar Alto Observatory in Almería also could follow this spectacular event.
May 3th, 2023
At 22:14 UT on 3 May, a bright, short bolid was seen near the town of Caspe, Zaragoza province, in the northern direction. The bolide captured is about 495 km from the observatory, so we can not appreciate its light footprint with such clarity, but its final explosion after entering the atmosphere.
This object was recorded in the detectors of the SMART Project operated in Calar Alto (Almeria), Sierra Nevada, La Sagra (Granada), La Hita (Toledo), Olocau (Valencia), Faro de Cullera (Valentina), Marçà (Tarragona) and Sant Celoni.
This time, one of the external surveillance webcams operated at Calar Alto Observatory in Almería, also recorded the nice event.
April 18th 2024
At 01h13 UT on April 18, 2024, a bright fireball could be seen crossing Extremedura, towards Mérida, leaving behind a small wake.
This object was recorded in the SMART Project detectors operated in Calar Alto (Almería), La Sagra (Granada), Sierra Nevada, El Arenosillo (Huelva), La Hita (Toledo) and Seville.
Two of the external cameras of the Calar Alto Observatory in Almería also followed this nice object.
April 14th 2024
An impressive fireball crossed some part of Andalusia’s skies at 00h35 UT of last night of April 14th.
This fireball was registered with the SMART Project’s detector operated at the Observatories of Calar Alto in Almería, La Hita in Toledo, Huelva, Seville and Sierra Nevada and La Sagra, both in Granada province.
Two of the external cameras of the Calar Alto Observatory in Almería also followed this nice object.
