Last night of May 22nd 2018, at 23:37 UT (01:37 local time of May 23rd), a bright fireball flew above Mediterranean Sea in front of Murcia and Alicante (Southeast Spain) coasts.
The fireball could be registered with the SMART Project’s detectors operated at Calar Alto (Almería), La Sagra (Granada), La Hita (Toledo) and Sevilla Observatories. It could be also detected with the external surveillance webcams at Calar Alto Observatory.
As it is shown on the right image, the fireball happened just in front of Murcia and Alicante (Southeast Spain) above the Mediterranean Sea.
The image on the up left shows the emission spectrum gathered with the SMART Project's detector located at Calar Alto Observatory (Almería).
Below are the videos registered with both the SMART Project's detector and the surveillance system webcam, both placed at Calar Alto Observatory.
Calar Alto (CAHA) fireball detection station, together with the one at the Observatory of Sierra Nevada (IAA-CSIC) and others placed at different locations in Spain, are part of the S.M.A.R.T. project led by Professor José María Madiedo (University of Huelva) to track that kind of objects. Specifically, Calar Alto (CAHA) station and the one at Sierra Nevada (IAA-CSIC) constitute a collaboration agreement between Professor Madiedo and both institutions.
