This bright fireball was registered with SMART Project detectors at 4:08 local time (2:08 UT) of July 29th 2016. The luminous phenomena has been recorded from fireball detection station at Calar Alto, Sevilla, La Hita (Toledo) and Huelva observatories. West Calar Alto Observatory surveillance webcam could also record this object.
Following the analysis carried out by the Project PI, Professor José María Madiedo (University of Huelva), this event was very similar to that happened two nights ago, and this one occurred also as consequence of the of the impact against the atmosphere of a meteoroid coming from Comet 169P/NEAT, at a speed of about 95.000 km/h. Like the last observed fireball, this one is also associated to the alfa-Capricornids meteor shower. he fireball started at an altitude of 102 km, and flew over Cádiz and Sevilla (west Andalucía) provinces, moving northeastward, as can be seen from the ground projection path image.

Calar Alto (CAHA) fireball detection station, together with the one at the Observatory of Sierra Nevada (IAA-CSIC) and others placed at different locations in Spain, are part of the S.M.A.R.T. project led by Professor José María Madiedo (University of Huelva) to track that kind of objects. Specifically, Calar Alto (CAHA) station and the one at Sierra Nevada (IAA-CSIC) constitute a collaboration agreement between Professor Madiedo and both institutions.
