Last October 28th 2015, two bright fireballs could be observed. The most impressive was the first one that flew over Mediterranean sea. Both objects were associated to Encke comet. At 22:14 UT of October 5th, 2015, a bright fireball passed over the Straits of Gibraltar. In this case, the fireball was produced by a fragment from comet Encke. Due to the clouds, it couldn't be observed from all the stations. However, at Calar Alto, although there were some clouds, the object could be seen with our west surveillance webcam.
Last September 27th about 01:59 UT, a fireball with sporadic origin flew over Sierra de Cazorla at Jaén province (south Spain).
The object was registered at different stations, including our fireball detection station at Calar Alto. It was also seen from Huelva, Sevilla, Sierra Nevada and La Sagra, although the last two only saw the spectral emission.
On September 15th, 2015, two fireballs flew over North Africa coast proximity. The first one (image on the left), with cometary origin took place in front of Algerian coast, while the second one (click on read more for photo and video) happened over Morocco.
