September 8th 2023
At 21:40 UT on September 8th, 2023, a fireball could be seen crossing the sky over the center of Andalucia between the provinces of Granada and Córdoba in a northern direction.
This object was registered in the SMART Project detectors operated in Calar Alto (Almería), Sierra Nevada and La Sagra (Granada), La Hita (Toledo), Sevilla and Huelva observatories.
August 21st 2023
During the night of August 20, 2023 at 01:56 UT, a bright fireball was observed in the skies over northern Morocco near Nador.
The phenomena was registered with the SMART Project’s detector located at Calar Alto (Almería), Huelva, La Hita (Toledo), Sierra Nevada (Granada), La Sagra (Granada) and Seville observatories.
June 15th 2023
A nice and bright fireball was observed at 23h54 UT on June 10th 2023 flying above the Mediterranean Sea, just in front of the coasts of Almería and Murcia provinces.
This event was registered with the SMART Project’s detectors operated at Calar Alto (Almería), La Hita (Toledo), Huelva, Sierra Nevada (Granada), La Sagra (Granada) and Seville.
Two of the external cameras located at Calar Alto Observatory in Almería, also followed this phenomena.
May 9 th 2023
An impressive fireball could be observed at 23h00 UT (01h00 Spanish ocal time) on May 7th on Algeria skies.
This object was registered with the SMART detector’s cameras operated at Calar Alto (Almería), La Hita (Toledo), La Sagra (Granada), Sierra Nevada (Granada), Ayora (Valencia) and Seville observatories.
Some of the external cameras at Calar Alto Observatory also followed this spectacular event.
April 23rd 2023
This month is being very good in the observation of meteors from the various detectors operated by the SMART Project in Spain.
Last detected fireball took place on the night of April 23rd 2023 at 04h10 UT, and it was observed with the SMART Project detectors at Calar Alto (Almería), Huelva, La Hita (Toledo), Calar Alto, Sierra Nevada, La Sagra (Granada), Seville and Valencia del Ventoso (Badajoz).
Again, two of the external cameras operated at Calar Alto Observatory in Almería, followed also this phenomena.
- Two more bright fireballs on April 18th and 21st 2023
- Several fireballs over Spain on April 9th, 10th and 17th
- A fireball that splits into two fragments above Albacete on April 5th
- Bright fireball above Madrid and Toledo Provinces on the second of April
