Problem: GROT ERROR.

    Diagnostic :
  • Red error flag "GROT ERROR" in PMAS Status Window.

    Explanation :
  • The VME motor controller has experienced an error condition for the grating rotator. The error may be related to a hardware problem, a software problem, or to a spurious error condition. If the error is prevailing despite the solution advised below, a more serious hardware failure must be suspected. Consult support for advice.

    Solution :
  • On rike prompt, type:
    
grotReset
    
limevalSet
    
grotInit
    
grotStatus
    After grotStatus, the following message should appear: TBD

    Note that sometimes the loop is closed only after a significant amount of time has passed, so be patient.

    If the LOCKED status is not reached, reset the vme controller lea (reset button on lea frontpanel - do not confuse with abort button !) Repeat the sequence from above. If there is no success, call support.

    Note: it is possible to circumvent software control of this device to rescue an observation by manually moving the grating rotator into the desired position. FOR CAHA STAFF ONLY!
